Legendary author Ishmael Reed will be honored with the North Star Award from the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation in October 2023! This lifetime achievement is a Legacy Award given once yearly by the Hurston/Wright Foundation to an exceptional innovator in supporting and sustaining Black literature. Previous winners include Nikki Giovanni, Ntozake Shange, and Alice Walker.
